A Boss Guide To Improving Your Productivity
Owning any commercial entity, big or small, is not an easy job. Yes, you get a lot of perks and the pay is great but the responsibilities you have on your plate is definitely no joke. You will have dozens of appointments to take care of while making sure that you can go through all those paperworks and finish all your reports. Your days will be mostly hectic and stress will become very familiar to you. It might look that your life will be a bit chaotic so to speak, but it will not be as bad as you think. You may a lot of tasks to take care of but you get them all done just as long as you know the ways.
With this said, it is important for a boss like you to do a handful of things that can help you improve your productivity. It may sound like a lot of hard work but you will be surprised that most of the steps are easy breezy. Here are some of them:
- Create a schedule. The key to accomplishing a lot of things in a day is proper time management. Thus, it is very important that you allot a specific time for everything. Be as detailed as you can.
- Make sure you take a break. Working for eight hours straight can be toxic! Instead of helping you finish all the things you need to take care of, it can prolong the process and agony. It would be wise if you squeeze in a few minutes of rest and relaxation in between. While you are not doing anything, you might want to squeeze some quality minutes to give your strained muscles some stretch too.
- Get rid of all the distractions. Keep your eye on the price. If possible, turn off or put to silent your phone, deactivate your email notifications and do away with non-work related things. Just focus on your work.
- Feed some music to your soul. Having a sweet and soft melody playing while you are busy doing those computations can actually make such a dreadful task better. You can even put on some really upbeat songs to get your energy high! You can even make a playlist to make your office more fun and lively! But of course, you need to consider the others too thus, you might want to keep the volume down or better yet, wear an earphone.
- Take care of the hardest task first. Those dreaded activities should be taken care of before anything else just to get it off your throat. You will be surprised on how it can help you become more efficient!
- Begin immediately. You will probably say that the hardest part is starting but you get in going, everything will just flow. Just relax, clear your mind and let your brain do all the work. However, you should not force yourself to function right away. Just let your body and mind move naturally and in their own terms.
- Have a pen and a notebook on hand at all times. You will never know when a brilliant moment idea will strike! So to help you remember your thoughts on a rare light bulb moment, better have these two office buddies ready! On the other hand, if you are more on the technological side, make sure that you have the right amount of Cartridges in your office so that you can easily print down the ideas you have encoded in your device.
- Have a complete set of office supplies. As what they say, you should never face a battle unarmed. The same goes with office tasks. You should always have everything you need within your reach. Fill your stock room with bond papers, cartridges, pens, paper clips, staple wires and just about everything. They might be just small things but they can affect your productivity if you do not have them.
- Do not forget to eat. There are times when you are just so caught up with all those deadlines that you somehow cannot feel hunger. Well, even if you are not in the mood to grab a bite, you definitely should. You need a lot of energy thus you need to load up some carbs and proteins! As much as possible, do away with fast food. Rather, squeeze in some cooking time in your hectic schedule.
- Get a watch (pocket or wrist). You can never get a lot of job done if you are always late thus, if you want to accomplish a lot, make sure you get to the office on time.
- Set your priorities straight. Before you start your day, it is very important to determine which chore should you do first. The urgent one should obviously be on top of your list.
- Get enough rest and sleep. Your body and mind cannot function well if they are both tired. If you have pulled an all-nighter the day before, make sure you make up for it and catch some quality slumber the next night. You are a human being and not a robot. Rest is very essential to be productive.
- Learn to say ?No·from time to time. You have to come to terms that you cannot do everything at once and you should put in mind that it is OK to ask for help when necessary.
- Accept that not everything will go according to plan. So you have finished all of your reports and you are so ready to face the board but your computer crashed. It might be a reasonable cause to lose your sanity but you need not to dwell over it. Instead of cursing or complaining, waste no more time and call for a trusted company that can recover your important data. This scenario might not be a part of how you planned your day but you need to consider the possibilities.
- Love what you do. For any task to bearable, you need to embrace it and put passion into it. Yes, it sounds sentimental and very emotional but believe it or not, it can do wonders to your efficiency. Just think of the saying that goes ?time flies swiftly when you are having tons of fun?. Do not be too serious and a little bit of enjoyment in all of your tasks.
You see, improving your efficiency is not as hard as you think. There might be a handful of steps but they are not so difficult to follow, right? But basically what you can get from this is that you just need to figure out what works for you. Once you find that, everything will just fall into its places.
